Fancy a spa break in Provence, far from the hustle and bustle and with stunning views?
A five-minute walk from the hilltop village of Tourtour, La Bastide de Tourtour welcomes you with its 23 rooms, set in the heart of a 4-hectare park.
Here, access to the spa is included throughout your stay: indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, Nordic bath and heat rooms overlooking the Massif des Maures.
And this autumn, the Spa is introducing something new: the SORRE haircare range, created in Provence.
A spa break in Provence, between the sky and the hills of the Haut Var
A Provençal stone country house, pine trees, oak trees and the horizon stretching as far as the eye can see: the setting alone makes for half the holiday. Tourtour, nicknamed the ‘village in the sky’ of Provence, is just a few minutes’ walk away. Its narrow streets, fountains and shaded squares invite you to take a leisurely stroll between spa sessions.
La Bastide is situated in the heart of the Haut Var, close to the Gorges du Verdon and Lake Sainte-Croix. The Côte d’Azur is about an hour’s drive away. Close enough to set off on a Friday evening, yet far enough away to feel as though you’re in a different world the moment you arrive. For those travelling from further afield in France, Nice and Marseille airports offer easy access to La Bastide. The property also has a private helipad for a truly extraordinary arrival.
What makes a wellness break at La Bastide so special, … it’s all about the atmosphere. People come here for the peace and quiet: a limited number of rooms, a spa reserved for adults and teenagers aged 16 and over, and the feel of a family home rather than that of a large hotel complex. With your phone on silent and a bathrobe draped over your shoulders, time really does slow down.
A sensory journey, from the indoor pool to the Nordic bath
The spa is an experience to be savoured as a journey, which each person can tailor to their own pace, combining warmth, water and relaxation.
-
The swimming pool Indoor pool, with a counter-current system and a swan-neck spout, for a few lengths or a long float.
-
The hot tub, beneath the glass roof, to relax the body after a hike or a few hours’ drive.
-
The indoor sauna – Nordic and infrared – and the laconiums, for gentle, gradual heat.
-
The gym, for those who like to start the morning with some exercise.
Outdoors, La Bastide offers something few spa hotels in Provence can match: a panoramic sauna and a Nordic bath overlooking the Haut Var. The warmth of the wood, the crisp air of the grounds, …with the view as the only backdrop. The Nordic bath is heated by a wood fire outside the summer months; from June to September, it remains at room temperature, in accordance with fire safety regulations.
There’s no set order, but one sequence works particularly well. Start with a few lengths in the indoor pool to wake up your body. Then head to the warmth of the sauna, followed by a breath of fresh air in the park. Finish off in the jacuzzi, before taking some time to rest. Following this journey, your skin feels softer and your mind is at peace: it’s the perfect time for a massage.
Free access to the spa throughout your stay
This is one of the great advantages of La Bastide: access to the spa facilities is included in every stay, at no extra cost. It begins at 3 pm on the day of your arrival and continues until midday on the day of your departure.
A night at La Bastide means two spa sessions: a cosy late afternoon before dinner, then a morning by the indoor pool before setting off again. With two nights, The spa becomes a real ritual, to enjoy at a time that suits you, often in complete tranquillity during the week.
Bathrobes and flip-flops are provided in your room. Our 23 rooms, ranging from Standard to Prestige, have been designed to feel like a family home: stone walls, soft lighting and, in some cases, a view of the Maures mountains. Choosing your bedroom, is already a choice of landscape.

Spa Hotel in Provence: the art of living in a family-run establishment
A spa break is about more than just the hours spent in a bathrobe. At La Bastide de Tourtour, a sense of well-being extends to every space: the bedroom where you wake up, the grounds where you take a stroll, the lounges where you linger. That’s what sets it apart from a spa hotel in Provence and with just one step, the whole place helps you relax.
Rooms designed to feel like a family home
Exposed stone walls, soft colour schemes, windows overlooking the park’s pine trees or the Massif des Maures – each room has its own character. Some gaze out over the sweeping landscape of the Haut Var, whilst others prefer the park. All of them favour a peaceful atmosphere.
After spending the late afternoon at the spa, we make our way back to our room at a leisurely pace, bathrobes draped over our shoulders. We decide on the spot how to spend the rest of the evening: dinner at L’Orangeraie, a night-cap whilst watching the sunset, or simply a book by the window. For a wellness break, the bedroom isn’t just a place to sleep. It’s part of the experience.
A 4-hectare park, featuring sculptures and sweeping landscapes
The Parc de la Bastide is one of the estate’s finest features. Olive trees, pines, oaks and oleanders create a typically Provençal setting. As you round a bend in the path, stone and bronze sculptures dot the walkway, and water trickles over the rocks.
It is also in the heart of this park where the panoramic sauna and the Nordic bath are located. The route from the indoor spa to the outdoor facilities takes you through the gardens. This allows you to enjoy the fresh air of the Haut Var between sessions in the heat. Early in the morning, the park belongs to the birds and early morning walkers – a lovely way to start the day before breakfast.
What’s the best time of year for a spa break in Provence?
La Bastide is open all year round, and each season lends a different flavour to your stay. There’s no bad time to visit – it all depends on what you’re looking for.
-
In autumn and winter, the wood-fired Nordic bath really comes into its own. You go from the dry, crisp air of the Haut Var to the warm water, with a view of the hills. It’s also the quietest time of year at the estate, ideal for a proper break.
-
In spring, the park comes to life, the walks around Tourtour are at their best and the light stretches across the Maures mountains.
-
In summer, life in Provence revolves around the outdoors: a swim in Lake Sainte-Croix or the Verdon, dinner on a terrace, then a return to the tranquillity of the spa in the late afternoon.

New: SORRE hair care treatments at the Spa
We have chosen to introduce you to SORRE, a French brand founded in Provence, which is reinventing hair care by placing the scalp at the heart of hair beauty.
His starting point is simple: the scalp is an extension of the skin on the face. It has the same hydration needs, protection and renewal, but it is rarely treated as such. SORRE therefore combines two approaches: biomimetics, which draws inspiration from what the skin already recognises, and biotechnology, to produce stable and pure active ingredients. Its formulations are tested on the finished product under dermatological supervision.
Discover the four key products in the range at the Spa:
-
Foundation Shampoo: balances, moisturises and strengthens the hair fibre.
-
Skin Foundation Serum: an innovative formula to moisturise and soothe both the face and the scalp.
-
Restore Serum: tackles hair loss and helps to stimulate regrowth and improve hair density.
-
Foundation Conditioner: moisturises, nourishes and strengthens the hair without weighing it down.
Formulated and manufactured in Provence, vegan and not tested on animals, SORRE products combine scientific expertise with a responsible approach. It’s the obvious choice for a wellness break in the heart of Provence. It’s also a natural extension of the care that our La Bastide massage already devotes to the scalp. Our therapists will advise you on the routine best suited to your hair.
Extend your stay: dining, the village and the great outdoors
A visit to the spa is often followed by a meal, on a walk or travelling along the roads of the Haut-Var. At a restaurant the Orange Grove, the cuisine is refined yet unpretentious, offering a subtle blend of local flavours. In the warmer months, dinner is served on the terrace, overlooking the countryside.
On the estate, Your stay will be a mix of relaxation and gentle activities : tennis, a putting green, a golf simulator or simply a stroll through the park. The next day, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the narrow streets of Tourtour, and the Gorges du Verdon are the perfect spot for a lovely getaway.
